The Gail Borden Public Library District serves the Elgin, Illinois community through three building locations and strong outreach activities. Focused on lifelong learning and early literacy, a highlight is the newly renovated KidSpace at the Main Library. This reimagined, developmentally appropriate play area is intentionally designed to support early literacy through hands-on, play-based learning for infants, toddlers, and young children. Featuring interactive elements, nature-inspired play structures, sensory areas for babies, and inviting spaces for shared reading, KidSpace blends exploration, imagination, and language development, reinforcing the library’s role as a welcoming hub for families and early learners.
