Adopting the Family Place model has strengthened our libraries as welcoming community hubs that support the whole child and their caregivers. Through developmentally appropriate spaces, literacy-focused programming, and knowledgeable staff, we intentionally foster early literacy and lifelong learning. As a Family Place Library strategically located within walking distance of schools and preschool, Sheridan Library has deepened partnerships through outreach and collaborative programming. The Family Place Workshop connects families to early childhood resources and the local early childhood council which operates the local Head Start. This investment supports Arapahoe Libraries’ vision of a literate, informed, and fulfilled community—ensuring that our youngest community members and their families are supported.
