The Pioneer Memorial Library, a Family Place Library since 2012, provides resources and programming to nearly 7500 patrons made up of the Colby community (pop.5500) and many others in the surrounding rural northwest Kansas area.
Recent reports show that half of the population in Colby is made up of people from ages 19-64 and children from birth through 18 years of age make up nearly a third. Recognizing just who makes up our community, PML strives to provide quality programming for young children and their families and treats every patron as 'family'.
The Children's Room features books for infants through third grade, including: board books, numerous picture books (fiction, non-fiction and Spanish/Bilingual books), and our Beginning Readers Collection. Our Parenting Collection is located adjacent to the Children's Room, including picture books to tackle specific parenting topics.
Families are welcome to play and interact in the children's room, with toys, games, puppets, puzzles, blocks, an art station and more! The Children's Room has two AWE Learning Computer Stations, featuring learning games and activities for children ages 2-8 years old.
Information regarding our Storytimes, parent-child workshop "Play with Purpose", Baby & Me sessions, Summer Reading Program, Youth Activity Center and more can be found on our website: colbylibrary.com
