The Thomas Memorial Library is a busy public library located in a town of 9,500 people in southern Maine outside of Portland. We serve families from our small town as well as those who live and visit other areas of southern Maine.
Our play area has become a destination for families with young children. Some families visit us multiple times a week or even daily as part of their routine. Caregivers meet and make connections in our play area and interact with their children during story times and other programs.
Being a Family Place Library is the foundation of our family-centered approach to supporting child development through community-building spaces, resources and programs. We are told by many caregivers that the library is their child's favorite place to go!
