Thomas Memorial Library

We are a small town public library in Maine, just south of Portland. Our Family Place area has truly become a destination spot for families with young children in our community. We have some families that visit us multiple times a week, or even daily as part of their routine. Groups of parents regularly meet for play groups in our Family Place area. We have also found that parents no longer socialize during programs, but instead interact more with their children, because they know there is a space for them to hang out and socialize before and after programs. Being a Family Place library has truly transformed the way we provide services to families with young children. We are told my many parents that the library is their child's favorite place to go!
