Playing with ramps and blocks at Little Makers in our new Early Childhood Learning Room

Beginning in 2017, our library underwent a major construction project. The project was officially dedicated in June of 2019 with a special event to showcase our new spaces. Most of the renovations and expansions did not directly affect Youth Services. We did get new carpeting and a new furniture arrangement, which allowed up to open up even more space in the Youth Department for toys and learning equipment. Although it wasn't ready until later in the fall, we turned our basement meeting room into an early childhood learning space. This will be the place that we host of Little Makers, Messy Art, and Parent-Child Workshops. It is where we had hosted the PCW workshops in the past. During the renovation, we painted and equipped the room to better appeal to families and children. We haven't yet used the room for Parent-Child Workshops. We have used it for Messy Art and Little Makers. We found that we were not able to offer as many Parent-Child Workshops as we had hoped to do during construction. We did not have the facilities to manage the large motor activities. But now we do, and we are excited to get back into it all this February.
