Northport-East Northport Public Library

The Northport-East Northport Public Library has two locations: Northport and East Northport. We have a wonderful, imaginative play space in both of our library locations. We rotate books, puzzles, games, and toys in these spaces which encourage creative and collaborative play. Each of our locations has a fully-stocked play cooking set, train table, writing table, magnetic alphabet board, and preschool science activity areas. Sensory tiles and toys adorn the Reference Desks in each building to encourage interaction between young patrons and staff. Additionally, our Northport location has "The Cove," with age-appropriate manipulatives and puppet theater. Our East Northport location also has a section with dolls complete with a high chair and cradle. Patrons really appreciate having an area in the library where they can spend time as a family and enjoy entertaining and educational activities--with no cost and no time limits. Parents/caregivers network as their children play and make new friends. They can also browse the Parents Collection, located near the play areas in each building, for up-to-date resources on a variety of parenting topics. Over 50 themed Backpack Storytime kits and a variety of Book Bundles are available for busy families to "grab and go."  We are especially proud of how this space is used for families that are new to the community, have children with special needs, or for whom English is a new language, as well as grandparents, neighbors, and babysitters with children under their care.
