The Idea Place and Westhampton Free Library have created a safe place for parents and caregivers to visit. While you are here, children build upon their social, emotional, and other foundational skills. We are happy to help support families with children of all ages through literacy and programming.
Some accomplishments this past year include new programming, shifting of our collections, and increased our outreach services to just under pre-Covid levels. The two infant programs we added are called Infant Massage and Sign and Sing, in efforts to support our young families. We added an Open Play program for all birth through Pre-Kindergarten children. This program is set up with play centers with age appropriate toys and materials. Caregivers are free to come and go as many times as they please. In adding to our programming inside the library, we wanted to get back into the community again. We are now offering school visits, themed story time bags for preschool teachers to check out, and taking part in large community events each season.
Lastly, we have shifted many of our book collections for better access throughout our space. You will find our Parenting Collection in the community play area. Caregivers now have the opportunity to browse our helpful books while their child plays and interacts with others.
