Our early childhood materials area has been well-loved since its implementation. It has been amazing to not only watch the kids form friendships and bonds, but to watch the parents let go and play too. The kids have so much fun, that several times a week they leave crying because they're not ready to go yet. Beyond our early childhood materials area, we have had some great success with our parent/child workshops: 1-2-3 Play With Me. The families have loved the opportunity to meet other families in the area as well as getting to know the resource professionals and the services their organizations provide. The majority of our partnerships and resource professionals were with other county departments, but as the years have continued, we worked hard to develop new partnerships with different community resources like the local school district, a Kindermusik studio, and speech pathologist. We are always on the lookout for new partnerships we might discover along the way. We have had to make some changes in the past year, such as limited access to the items in early childhood materials area, as well as moving our parent/child workshop to a virtual program. However we are gradually reintroducing elements of our Family Place space, and we hope to fully back up and running soon.
