Wells Branch Community Library

The Family Place Library has really transformed our library. It is a welcoming place for young children and their parents. Our Family Place is located in our program room, which was previously unused space unless a children's program was taking place. Now, the room is always occupied with parents and children, learning together. The library staff guide the parents in engaged learning with their children. We have included Montessori activities that utilize the existing learning materials, such as matching activities and three part cards. The Family Place items all have labels, which help parents and children with organization skills when they are done using the materials. Our Parenting Collection is comprised of books and information on a variety of parenting topics, and is located next to the entrance to the Family Place. We have extended the Family Place to include our library's porch. We have fun, colorful seating and outdoor instruments.
