Baxter Memorial Library has a strong ongoing commitment to promoting early literacy to the families in our community. We have a dedicated family engagement area that features age-appropriate enrichment toys and activities for our youngest patrons along with parenting books and community resource information. Twice annually we present a 5 week play-to-learn workshop that features community resource professionals who play with our families while passing along important child development information. We also offer weekly programs for children 0 -5 that use stories, music, and movement to present and enhance early literacy skills and foster a love of reading. Kits are available to check out that include topics such as: bird watching, yoga, fitness, and dog training.
