Katy Branch Library is a medium-sized branch library located in the heart of Katy. It is a Harris County Public Library branch that is partially owned by the City of Katy. Over the past year, the library has seen an uptick in attendance in children's programming. In the Spring 2023, we re-launched our children's programs with the inclusion of the following programs: Little Sprouts Baby Time (for non-walking babies), Seedling Squad Toddler Story Time (for toddlers aged 1-3) and Flower Hour Preschool Story Time (for children aged 3-5). In addition to our programs, we regularly have take-home crafts available at the front desk.
Each spring and each fall since April 2023, we host a five-week Family Place Workshop series. The series is always well-attended with 50-55 attendees (children and parents) at each workshop. At each workshop, we have play centers stocked with toys, take home resources for parents, and community resource professionals. Topics covered include early literacy, speech development, child development, health and nutrition, and music and movement. Our community resources professionals came from the following partner organizations: Katy Independent School District, Harris County Health and Human Services Department, Studio 7 For Her, and Texas Hearing Institute.
