Parkland Community Library

In 2023, Parkland Community Library launched its Family Place Library, introducing a biennial five-week series of Parent-Child Workshops called "1-2-3 Play with Me." In 2025, the library received grant funds to add and update both board books and educational toys for Family Place workshops and the Youth Services area.  Over the past three years, the initiative has had a positive impact on the community. There has been an increase in the use of youth materials and in attendance at youth events. Many families have become regular patrons of the library. Caregivers expressed their appreciation for the chance for their children to play with peers, receive tips from various experts, and connect with other caregivers. The informal and relaxed environment seemed to enhance everyone's comfort and approachability. Some caregivers even stayed after the workshops to engage with one another. Many now also participate in other library events, such as story time.
