North Channel Branch Library - Harris County Library

At North Channel Branch Library, curiosity thrives and families connect! As one of nearly 30 locations in the Harris County Public Library system, we provide a welcoming space where children learn through play and discovery. In 2025, we welcomed a Children's Librarian and enjoyed another record breaking summer!

One of our standout features is a vibrant and developmentally appropriate play area that welcomes approximately 3,000 visitors each month. Designed for children from birth through age five, the space is filled with engaging toys that encourage exploration and growth, while comfortable seating allows parents and caregivers to relax and connect.

Beyond the play area, we offer a wide selection of enriching programs designed for parents, caregivers, and their children. Our lineup includes Lil' Cubs Baby Time, Wiggle Worms Toddler Time, Preschool Pups Story Time, and Polliwog Club—each fostering early literacy, movement, and social development. Kids can also get creative with hands-on activities like LEGO Lab, Kids Craft Time, Process Art Fun, and Sensory Play. Families can come together for Book Buddies, Family Crafts and Games providing opportunities for shared experiences and meaningful connections.

At the heart of our programming is our signature Play Pioneers workshop, part of the Family Place Parent/Child Workshop initiative. This interactive program provides parents and caregivers with expert guidance while offering young children hands-on learning experiences that build crucial early skills in a supportive environment.
