The Stewart C. Meyer Library in Harker Heights will host its Family Place program called Stepping Stones this fall.
This program offers families of young children a unique opportunity to learn, play and grow together, according to Erica Rossmiller the children’s librarian.
Family Place is a nationwide network of libraries dedicated to the belief that early literacy begins at birth and that libraries can help build healthy communities by supporting families.
Stepping Stones offers curated play stations for children and their caregivers to explore together. Families will find picture books, toys, puzzles, dramatic play items, blocks and drawing stations — tools that encourage creativity, problem-solving and bonding.
In addition, families will have the chance to connect with community resource professionals, experts who can answer caregiver questions on key topics.
Rossmiller has scheduled two Family Place programs before the end of the year. On Nov. 8, the subject is nutrition and enrollment begins Oct. 13. On Dec. 13, the subject is music and movement and enrollment begins on Nov. 10
