The strength of our Family Place programming can be illustrated by growth of participation over the years. When asked how they found out about View Park Bebe Moore Campbell Library’s baby-toddler programs, participants note that they learned about the excellent children’s services we provide on mommy-and-me group websites, at local neighborhood council meetings and simply by word-of-mouth of from other parents and caregivers.
Parents and caregivers appreciate the care in the planning of parent-child workshops and storytimes by the children’s services librarian. They vocally appreciate her knowledge of the materials on-hand and how it can benefit their child. She also ensures there is a variety of play materials available and shares how library staff maintain the materials for health and safety. It has also been noted that all library staff members contribute to a welcoming and accommodating environment for parents, caregivers and our 0 – 5-year-old library users.
Parents and children have told us they love to come to the library and know they have a place all to themselves. The toys are great sources of learning and give them a chance to socialize with others in a safe setting.
