The family Place at the Sunkist Branch Library has had a positive impact in the community. Children come to this library to learn, play and make friends through the resources and specialty spaces that are provided to families. Every summer this library provides workshops to families where they can talk to a specialist in the areas of health and wellness, dental care, child behavior and school readiness. What is special about this library is that it provides children with a program called “Playdate!” This program is offered throughout the year on a weekly basis, where a Librarian shares her expertise in early literacy development with parents and children on an ongoing basis. Through this program children meet friends and parents attend the library regularly to check out books. It’s a great way to foster the love of reading and learning through playtime by being a Family Place Library.
