Our library has a separate children's room with various age appropriate areas within it. The caregivers & children can get together, meet new people & feel a quiet (but not too quiet) supportive place. We do not expect small children to behave like small adults, but encourage play and discovery. As I run many other programs for older children as well, the caregivers can find out about these there, too.
The space you see in the photos is part of our children's room. The Family Place set up I use for the actual programs has a much larger assortment of different types of play, from riders, a kitchen set-up, to a craft table & circle time. Due to logistical issues I am only able to hold our series twice a year, and must dismantle it in between. unfortunate, as the community truly enjoys the experience.
