We have a wonderful imaginative play space. The theme is changed several times a year (e.g. Dewey Decimal's Diner, Lift off @ the Library Airport, Kids @ Work Construction Zone, Dr. Dewey's Pet Clinic.) Our current theme is "Turn the Page and Play". The materials stimulate imaginative play with familiar characters from children's books. We have costumes, activities, books, puzzles, games, props, etc. for each theme to encourage creative and collaborative play. Our patrons really appreciate having an area of the library where they can hang out as a family enjoying entertaining and educational activities--with no cost and no time limits. The parents network as their children play and make new friends. We are especially proud of how this space is used for families that are new to the community, English as a second language patrons, and for families with special need children. We also have a puppet theater, fully stocked play kitchen, 3D printer, and train table that are permanent fixtures in another area of the Children's Room with kid level book browsers, puzzle racks, and preschool science activity table.
