Since October 2002, Martin Library has been a Family Place Library. Family Place is a library program that focuses on the community center concept for providing information and support for parents and children aged birth through three. Early childhood information, parent education, early literacy programs, socialization, and family support are key components of this library-driven partnership with community agencies.
Guthrie Memorial Library transformed our children’s library into a community center for early literacy and learning education and engagement, family support and community connectivity to ensure all children enter school ready and able to learn. At Guthrie Memorial Library we know that good health, early learning, parental involvement and supportive communities play a critical role in a young child’s growth and development. We created an inviting space for children and families to help build a stronger community. The response from the community has been overwhelming.
