Become a Family Place Library

Family Place Libraries are committed to developing a family-centered approach to library services. Libraries that join the Family Place Network:

  • Send one staff librarian and one administrator to the three day Family Place Training Institute and complete 7 hours of online training.
  • Implement the core components of Family Place Libraries.
  • Offer the Parent-Child Workshop within one year of attending the training institute.
  • Participate in an annual national Family Place survey.
  • Provide annual documentation of all Parent/Child Workshop pre and post workshop surveys.

The Family Place concept has helped us focus our programming efforts. It has developed contacts in the community that are beginning to lead to other programs and connections. It has given us great momentum in shaping our early childhood services and expanding our department.
